HFP President Nancy Fisher presents a donation check to SPCA Executive Director Rick Johnson and his pet, Phoebe.

With the presentation of a $35,000 donation, Hank Fisher Properties became the largest single contributor to the local SPCA’s Senior Services Program that enable elders to enjoy the health and wellness benefits of pet ownership.

“Through our senior living communities,” Mrs. Fisher stated, ”Hank Fisher Properties has been working to enhance the lives of seniors for over 30 years. So, we are pleased to team with the SPCA to help older adults maintain relationships with their beloved animal companions. Pet ownership can be especially beneficial to seniors and we are happy to support services that allow them to do just that.”

The funds were raised through an 18-hole golf scramble held at Del Paso Country Club. The event also featured live and silent auctions, hole-in-one contests and a helicopter golf ball drop. With the tournament’s success, HFP hopes to make it an annual event – the next offering is planned for Spring 2011.

Golfers line up for the First Annual Paws, Pals and Putts Golf Tournament.

HFP’s support of the Seniors Services Program allows the SPCA to provide low-cost pet care workshops, discounts on pet adoptions, obedience training, animal behavior consultation and helpline, “Love on Loan” pet visits to senior residences, and other services

Look for information about the next tournament in March 2011 or “Contact Us”. For further information about the Senior Services Program call the SPCA at (916) 383-7387 or visit them at www.sspca.org.
